A Journey of Two NICU Experiences
The Liquid Gold Foundation is building what we believe will be the first Black woman-founded donor human milk bank in the United States. After my son was born at 24 weeks and spent 91 days in the NICU, I saw firsthand how critical donor milk can be — and how many families are priced out or unaware it even exists. We're removing the financial, geographic, and educational barriers that keep donor milk out of reach, so no baby is denied it because of cost.
Through the sleepless nights and the sterile reality of the hospital, the foundation for The Liquid Gold Foundation was laid. It was born from a realization that no mother should feel alone in her breastfeeding journey, and no NICU baby should go without the vital nutrients they need for a fighting chance. My story is just one of many, but it is the heartbeat behind everything we do.
